The Queen's Scout Award is passed under arrangements made by the Unit Executive Committee and awarded by it after consultation with the Venture Scout Leader and the District Commisioner (following an informal interview with the Venture Scout).
The Queen's Scout Award , The Scout Association's highest training award, offers oppertunities to any Venture Scout to further develop and grow as a person.
Extra emphasis is placed on activities which encourage you to:
a) develop and use the skills of communicating, problem solving and decision making;
b) participate in a variety of social, cultural and spiritual activities;
c) give leadership to, and work co-operatively in adult-like situations;
d) participate in challanging physical and outdoor activities;
e) become aware of. and respond to the needs of your community and environment.
As with any worthwhile, the Queen's Scout Award does have a specific set of values, based on extra effort, personal commitmentand perseverance, but the scheme is flexible too, to take account of individual ability, interests and personality.
Requirements
1. Hold the Venture Scout Award.

2. Community - Training & Involvement
Undertake training in helping the community and over a sustained period (e.g. 36 hours) partake in a practical effort to help the community.
Depending upon local needs, this may be spread over several months, ot take a more concentrated effort.
3. Leadership
Undertake a leadership or similar responsible role in an aspect of your local community or Scouting. Undertake appropriate training as necessary. This should be arranged in consultation with the Unit Executive Committee and your Venture Scout Leader.
4. Pursuit or Interest
Develop existing interests or pursuits to a higher standard or try something new that you have never had the opportunity to try before.
5. Exploration - Training, Expedition & Report
Carry out suitanle training and practice appropriate to the type of expedition you intend to undertake. The expedition must be completed with a clear purpose in mind, in unfamiliar and challenging territory for a period of three nights and four days as approved beforehand by the Unit Executive Committee. A formal presentation or report must then be made using a variety of resources.
6. Assessment & Interview
On completion of the above requirements, the Venture Scout must arrange for an informal interview with the District Commissioner to discuss these achievements and future plans. The District Commissioner will provide feedback to the Unit Executive Committee which will also consult with the Venture Scout Leader in reaching a final decision on making the Award.
