The Venture Scout Award
Membership Badge | Venture Scout Award | Queens Scout Award | D of E Award
The Venture Scout Award is normally completed through active participation in a good Unit programme and is passed under arrangements made by the Unit Executive Committee. You should select your own activities and set your own targets so that you make personal progress in each of the following none areas:
Activity - acquiring new skills, developing self-confidence, improving physical fitness and well being through active involvement in indoor and outdoor pursuits.
Community Involvement - making contact with people within the community who have real needs, and working towards meeting those needs, to the benefit of the community.
Creativity - self-expression through creative, artistic or design activities.
Independance - acquiring practical life skills, developing socially, reaching a measure of independence towards the future.
International Awareness - learning about other peoples, their cultures and values and becoming a more caring member of our multicultural society.
Leadership - participating in training for leadership and undertaking some measure of responsibility within the Unit.
Outdoors & Environment - combining outdoor activities of any nature with practical effort in caring for the environment.
Relationships - facing up to the challenge of learning to live with other people.
Values - forming personal attitudes and opinions on issues and learning to respect and tolerate the views of others.
Finally, the presentation of the Award will be arranged by your Unit Executive Committee in consultation with your Venture Scout Leader.
Notes:
i) This Award is intended to provide a balanced programme for each Venture Scout and for the Unit as a whole. The Venture Scout should then use the experience to undertake responsibility within the Unit.
ii) Recent achievements gained through the Scout Section may, at the discretion of the Unit Executive Committee, count towards parts of this Award.
iii) Older Scouts, whilst in the Scout Troop, are encouraged to join with Members of the Unit in undertaking parts of this Award and can count this experience when they eventually join the Unit. However, it is intended that most of the Award is completed within, and as a Member of , the Venture Scout Unit.
